BDP Youth Congress was held in Amed

BAKUR, AMED – In Oct 30, the first Congress of Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) Youth Assembly was held with a broad participation of youth from all over Northern Kurdistan, Turkey, and the world in the memory of three Kurdish revolutionary women Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan and Leyla Şaylemez whom were assassinated in Paris. Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan‎ sent a message to the congress. “We started young, young people will win” said the Kurdish leader amidst slogan and cheers. The message was read by HDK deputy Sırrı Süreyya Önder. Hundreds of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) flags were waving in the hands of participants of the congress.

Due to filling the hall, some of the youth from outside and via live-stream followed the events of congress.

Member of BDP youth assembly Sibel Akdeniz delivered opening remarks and said we held this congress in memory of three Kurdish politician and revolutionary women Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan, and Leyla Şaylemez whom were assassinated in Paris.

When Selahattin Demirtaş and Gültan Kişanak co-chairs of BDP along with Aysel Tuğluk co-chair of Democratic Society Congress (KCD) and Sirri Süreyya Önder the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Member of Parliament entered the Congress Hall, excited youth welcomed them rapturously by chanting “Öcalan‎, Öcalan‎”.

Ertuğrul Kürkçü co-chair of People’s Democratic Party (HDP) and number of BDP and HDP participated in the congress. Youths were chanting “PKK is the Nation and Nation is here” and “A thousands regards to Imrali”.

Subsequently a cine-vision of speeches of Kurdish national leader Abdullah Öcalan‎ from past years was played for audience.

Congress participants included:

Kurdish youth from Bakur (North Kurdistan), Young people from the cities in Turkey, Youth organization of the Abertzale Left (ERNAI), Guevara Youth of Argentina (Juventud Guevarista de Argentina), Red Youth of Norway, Armenian Youth Federation, the Lebanese Leading Youth, Independent Youth Organization for Başur (South Kurdistan), Party for Liberation Socialist, Socialist Democratic Party, The Hope (LGBTT), Socialist Youth Population, Youth of Labour Party (EMEP), SÖZ Magazine, The Socialist Youth Union, Youth organizations of  “Democratic Union Party (PYD), Kurdistan Democratic Solution Party (PÇDK), Movement for Change (Gorran), Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), People’s Democratic Party (HDP), Peoples’ Democratic Congress (HDK), Republican People’s Party (CHP)”,  also numerous representative of youth organization, BDP Representatives and MP members.

In this Congress, Nujin Yusif the Rojava delegation read its message also she sent the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) greetings to the Youth Congress. Furthermore were submitted the statements by FARC-EP guerrillas plus ERNAI in the events. ERNAI ended their message with the slogan “Viva Kurdistan, Viva Leader APO”.

Following the speeches and the demand for Öcalan‎’s freedom, local artists Seyda Perinçek and the Dicle-Firat Cultural Center Child Def Group took the stage and the conference attendees danced throughout the meeting hall.

After the musical break the Democratic and Free Women Movement (DÖKH) member Pelin Yilmaz read DÖKH’s message.

Among other issues, the congress highlighted the importance of Abdullah Öcalan‎ in the peace process and that his freedom is required if the process is to be brought to a successful conclusion.

At the end of Youth Congress was selected 22 member council.
