Will Rouhani’s Government transfer the key posts to Kurds and Sunnis?

Ruhani1

This is a question worth considering as since the start of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a part from Persians, none of other ethnicity and religious minorities has been able to take the governmental key posts.

This is especially more evident in Kurdistan region as they are mostly Sunnis. With this regards, after the promises of Hassan Rouhani, at the time of election this year, the Iranian new president, people from Sine (Sanandej) region have been more optimistic. This is while the Sine governor is not still appointed and it is assumed that he will be a none Kurd. it is highly likely that a Shia figure will be nominated to the governor post of Sine , as the governors are normally assigned by government rather than elected by people.

In the last few decades of the governance of Islamic Republic of Iran, only Shias and those who are close to the regime have been appointed as the key important governors. Such people not only are familiar with the culture, religion, language and people’s national demands but also, are abhorrence of such differences. Recently, having a Kurdish Sunni governor in Senna, is one of the demands that both people of this region and also the Kurdish MPs have requested for.

Kerimian, the Serwabad and Meriwan representative hence said “The new governor of Sine needs to be a person familiar with the people’s agony and culture; and it has to be a Kurd and Sunni.” He also stated that assembly representatives of Sine region have submitted their final option to the Interior Ministry.

Yet, even with the moderations that Rouhani is claiming for, there is not much hope for changes in the crises that regime confronted to. In accordance with this, Mr Kerimian continued that “Mr. Rouhani has spoken regarding the statement of number 3 in which mentions the ethnicities and other religions other than Shia. Therefore, he reiterated that, people from Sine province need to follow these provisions which is getting the key posts by other nationalities.” Karimian stated “the head of the province’s interior minister has been introduced to Mr Rouhani”.
