ANF, BEHDÎNAN ─ Kurdistan Communities Union (KCK) Executive Council Presidency has released a declaration highlighting the steps needed for the continuation of the democratic resolution process in search of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question.
KCK remarked that the AKP government used İmralı talks as an instrument to gain time and to eliminate the Kurdish liberation movement, noting that it also treated the talks with the legal, democratic Kurdish political movement.
Reminding that the Kurdish side has done its part for the advancement of the resolution process, KCK noted that the AKP government has taken no steps for maintaining the non-conflict environment achieved with the ceasefire announced by the Kurdish movement, nor for the achievement of a solution to the Kurdish issue and democratisation in the country.
Pointing out that the Turkish state’s direct support to the war waged against Rojava meant sabotaging the democratic resolution process and displaying an irresponsible attitude towards the solution of the Kurdish question. KCK said it was not a political approach to give effort to break the Rojava revolution while promising steps for a solution in North Kurdistan. The Kurdish movement underlined that recognizing Kurds and their will was essential for coming up with a solution to the Kurdish issue.
KCK said that it was essential that the following three basic demands of the Kurdish people be satisfied for the achievement of a peaceful and democratic solution and to ensure the ending of the assimilation and cultural genocide of Kurds.
- the recognition of the Kurdish existence, identity and culture and initiation of constitutional and legal assurance, the recognition of Kurdish people’s freedom of thought and organization
- the recognition of the Kurdish self-determination,i.e. democratic autonomy
- the recognition of mother tongue education
Underlining that it would be a ligitimate right for Kurds to build their free and democratic life with their own will and power unless their rights are recognized, KCK said a new struggle term would be launched in such an event.
KCK added that the fate of the non-conflict environment and the steps the Kurdish liberation movement will take will be depending on the attitude the AKP government and the Turkish state will be displaying in the coming days.
Remarking that the Turkish state and the ruling AKP government have wasted the historic chance and opportunity offered by the democratic resolution process initiated by Kurdish people’s leader Abdullah Öcalan, KCK underlined that “Should the Turkish state and government fail to change their present attitude towards the Kurdish issue and to do what is necessary for the solution of the problem, our movement will re-evaluate the state of affairs and take steps for building a free and democratic life with its own will and method in line with its theoretical line and paradigm”.
KCK called on democratic circles and international powers to stand by the Kurdish people for the solution of the Kurdish issue and Turkey’s democratisation.
KCK ended its statement by Turkey and other countries in the Middle East to support the Kurdish leader Öcalan’s paradigm to ensure a free and democratic life in the region. It also called on Kurdish people and democracy forces in Turkey to enhance the struggle and organization for the achievement of a democratic solution to the Kurdish issue and democratisation across the country.
