Iran Presidency Election Woman

TEHRAN, — Women are excluded from the most of their rights in Iran. They were rejected to participate in the presidential election on 24th June 2013.

Mohammad Yazdi a member of Iran’s Guardian Council jurists said; the constitution does not allow women to become a president. According to the Mehr news agency, Yazdi said that in Iran’s constitution, women are not allowed to participate in the presidential election. Consequently, women’s candidacy is prohibited.

Although female candidacy for the presidential election was rejected, 30 women have been nominated for the election.

According to some political analysts, Iran’s constitution on women rights for presidential candidacy is controversial and ambiguous in some. Despite this, the following decisions of the Guardian Council are expected to cover up the issue.

In relation to the presidential election and nominations of some women, Mohammad Yazdi, the member of Iran’s Guardian Council jurists said; “Ten, twelve are women, one of them said that, If I were a president, I would make my cabinet half male and half female”. The law does not allow women to become a President. Now, how is one to determine the composition of the cabinet?

It is worth to mention that in Iran women can participate in the parliamentary elections and became a member of the parliament.
