Iranian state terror: 20 years after assassination of Kurdish leaders

SherefkendiBERLIN, Germany, — Today was the twentieth anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Sadeq Sherefkendi the general secretary of Democrat Party of Iranian Kurdistan along with his three comrades in Berlin.

Twenty years ago a delegate of Kurdish political representatives were assassinated by the Iranian terrorists in Mikonos Restaurant in Berlin, Germany.

Following the assassination four Lebanonian citizens and one Iranian named as Kazem Darabi were arrested by the German police.

A report compiled by the police cast Kazem Darabi as the coordinator of the assassination. After 146 sessions of court hearings, Kazem Darabi was sentenced to life-term for coordination of the terror team.

The Mikonos Court findings ruled that the Iranian senior leaders were behind the assassination. Ali Akbar Khameneyi the Iranian supreme leader, Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani the then Iranian president, Ali Falahiyan the then minister of Intelligence Service, Ali Akbar Welayeti the then minister for foreign affairs, Mohammad Ray Shari the former Minister of Intelligence, Mohsen Razayi the then commander-in-chief of the Iranian Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) and Ayatullah Khazali the then member of Iranian Guardian Counsel were involved in the assassination process, the Court ruling said.

The Mikonos Court and its verdict was historically unprecedented for it was the first time that an independent court was charging the senior leaders of a country for masterminding an assassination plot against the leaders of an opposition group.

After spending of 15 years in German prison, Kazem Darabi was released and flew back to Iran where he was embraced and treated as a national hero.
