Five hunger strikers at life-threatening condition

NEWSDESK, — Five Kurdish political prisoners held in Osmaniye T Type Closed Prison, who have been on indefinite hunger strike for the last 37 days are reported to be at a life-threatening point.

The families of the prisoners say the prisoners are physically attacked and forced to give census in military order. They also claimed that the Ministry of Justice and the prison administration will be responsible for possible deaths.

Thirty prisoners have gone on a hunger strike to protest the antidemocratic and inhuman treatment in the Osmaniye Prison since 37 days.

Investigators from the Ministry of Justice as well as deputies from the Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) and the People’s Republican Party (CHP) had made observations in the prison. However, the investigations brought about no changes in the prison administration.

“The prison officers threatened the prisoners after the investigations and told them that the torture will continue. Our children who have been on hunger strike since 37 days say that some prisoners might die unless the prison manager is dismissed. Apparently the prison manager has set up a team to attack prisoners weakened by the hunger strike,” tells a mother of a prisoner on hunger strike, Hazal Abo.
