URMIYE, — The city of Urmiye in Eastern Kurdistan has been recognised as international city by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural organisation), KNN reports.
UNESCO announced that because Urmiye is a multicultural city accommodating many different ethnics and religious groups such as Kurds, Ashore, Keldani, Jewish and Zoroastrians.
Up until now about a thousand cities are on the list of world cities because of their multiplicity in ethnical and religious make-up.
Urmiye is not just multicultural with different nations and religions but an international city by its nature for being adjacent to the saltiest lake on the world.
