MERSIN, — Eight more Kurds were arrested today in Mersin for allegedly “bearing Molotov cocktail and explosives” while protesting the 13 anniversary of the abduction of Kurdish national leader Abdullah Ocalan.
Of the twelve Kurds taken into custody on 15 February in Şevket Sumer Neighbourhood, four were released after giving their statements to the court.
Three others were arrested in Çaldiran district of Wan after being taken into custody on 15 February when security forces carried out operations at the 13th anniversary of the capture of Ocalan.
The High Criminal Court charged detainees with “spreading propaganda for an organization” and “bringing members in the organization”. Only one of the detainees was released after giving statement to the court.
