QENDIL, — The Council of East Kurdistan Defence Forces (HRK) released a statement in relation to the latest Iranian offensive in Bane city which marked the breaking of the five months bilateral ceasefire.
HRK Council states that the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) attacked their forces on 28th December 2011 in Bane and lost eight militaries as a result.
The statement reads as follow:
The outcome of the latest confrontation of our forces with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in Bane city
On 28 December 2011 a brigade of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) accompanied by the local collaborators launched an offensive on a unit of our guerrillas in the village of Kani of Bane city. Following the raid our forces had to defend themselves and respond the IRGC. The operation began at 8 am and lasted until late evening. At first the IRGC has shelled the region with cannon mortars and katuysha heavily and then attacked our forces but in contrary to what they had planned, eight Revolution Guards and collaborators were killed in the skirmish.
The Iranian offensive was launched while we have been on a bilateral ceasefire for the last five months. Our party had been adherent to the ceasefire but Iran acted contrarily.
In the meantime we had no suffering in the clash. Iran’s allegation of killing four guerrillas is false and with no substance.
