First victim of Turkey’s state terrorism in 2012

askerlertaradiAMED, Kurdish Capital, — Mekin Kar (Xebat Rodi) who was the first victim of Turkey’s state terrorism in Kurdistan in the first day of 2012 was buried today. He was executed by Turkish police in Amed (Diyarbakir) city.

Thousand of people turned out at his funeral in Amed today carrying his coffin wrapped with the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) flag around it.

Xebat Rodi and his comrade were PKK guerrillas who were killed by police on 1st January. The police gave a completely different version as to the two men died, saying that they had thrown themselves from the balcony of the third-floor flat they were staying when, wounded, saw no other escape way.

But eyewitnesses said the police version was a lie. Indeed they said the two men were killed in the street at point blank.

Speaking at the funeral the brother of Mekin, Nesip Kar said his brother was a “martyr of Kurdistan not just of his family”.
