Kurdish prisoner on hunger strike

URMIYE, East Kurdistan, — Ceefer Efshari a Kurdish prisoner detained in Urmiye prison is in hunger strike.

According to Mukrian News Agency Ceefer Efshari, from Mahabad, is on hunger strike since 21st September due to his unknown situation and erroneous accusations.

The prisoner was taken to a solitary confinement when the prison officers realised his action. Efshari has been jailed in Urmiye prison for more than 10 months charged with the allegation of causing insecurity for Iranian government.

Every year many Kurds are detained in prison for long period without any reasons and if they break their silence and react against such situations they face hard punishments such as keeping them in individual cells and prohibiting them from meeting their families.
