HPG claims responsibility for gas pipeline sabotage

MEDYA REGIONS, — People’s Defense Forces (HPG) has claimed responsibility for the big explosion on the natural gas pipeline, carrying natural gas from Iran to Turkey, close to the Dogubayazıt district of Agri at the night of August 11.

People’s Defence Forces press office HPG-BIM has reported that the sabotage of natural gas pipeline on August 11 was carried out by guerrilla forces.

HPG-BIM added that one scooper and three vehicles were also destroyed by guerrillas at the same night within the action.

The explosion caused a temporary interruption of the gas from Iran to Turkey. An official from the Ministry of Energy said that the reparations will last for one week.

SABOTAGE ACTS

HPG also claimed responsibility for the sabotage act on 3 August at the Botas crude oil pipeline passing through Midyat district of Mardin, which was bombed by HPG guerrillas on 10 August 2010 as well.

HPG guerrillas also carried out sabotage on Kerkuk-Yumurtalik, Iran-BOTAS and Giresun-Ordu pipelines in 2010.

Other sabotage acts carried out and claimed responsibility by HPG guerrillas are; the natural gas pipeline on Doğubayazıt-Gurbulak highway on 21 July 2010, the BOTAS gas pipeline in Aydındere town of Giresun on 18 July 2010 and the gas pipeline close to Koyunhisar-Ortakent territory between Giresun-Ordu provinces on 16 July 2010.
