DEFECE REGIONS OF MEDYA, — In an interview with Milliyet, the president of Kurdistan Democratic Confederation (KCK) Murat Karayilan made the following point on the current political situation in Turkey:
“We do not want to solve this problem with arms and violence, – he said, adding: We are not separatist, we do not want to divide Turkey. We are at a very critical crossroad. If the Parliament determines a positive attitude concerning the deputy crisis and the new constitution before the abeyance, it will deepen and maintain the peace process.”
Karayilan also pointed out that “Ocalan gave three protocols to the government a month ago. The first initiative launched by the government in 2009 was inconclusive and I could say that these protocols constituted a second democratic initiative.”
Karayilan added that “The roadmap of three protocols by Leader Ocalan is a new initiative on the Kurdish problem. The beginning of a democratic and constitutional solution’s process and completely disabling of weapons; that is a very important initiative for peace … “
According to Hasan Cemal’s news, Karayilan spoke about the general election on June 12 saying that “The election results are very important. This roadmap has opened a window of opportunity for Turkey’s implementing the peace and democracy initiative. In this respect, the election of 36 MPs for the Labour, Freedom and Democracy Block is a significant improvement and an achievement”.
Karayilan added that “The Kurdish people voted for democratic Turkey and democratic self-rule. Turkey will democratise as long as this self-rule applies to all of Turkey because democracy will be shaped and single-centrism will weaken through decentralization. The Kurdish people voted for a ‘project’ which we almost never call as ‘democratic Kurdistan’”.
THREE PROTOCOLS
The three protocols Ocalan presented to the government one month ago have been summarizing like this by Karayilan: Ocalan addressed the new democratic constitution subject calling it ‘The principles of the democratic solution to the Kurdish problem in Turkey’.
The second issue deals with the principles of a rightful peace for the state and society relations in Turkey; while the third – insisted Karayilan – deals with an immediate action plan for democratic and rightful peace.
The state delegation met with Ocalan a month ago does not deny these protocols. They consider it as a ‘negotiable document’ and they state that they will discuss with the government about it”.
