NORTH KURDISTAN, — Kurdish people were once again on the streets to protest against the ongoing military and political operations carried out by Turkish police and army.
Silvan, Ergani and Ceylanpınar saw thousands of people taking part at the different meetings organized by the “Labour, Democracy and Freedom” Block under which independent candidates sponsored by BDP and several left organizations will contest the 12 June general elections.
“You are not bigger than this people”, said independent candidate for Diyarbakir Leyla Zana referring to Prime Minister Erdoğan. Former MP Zana, who spent 10 years in prison for her loyalty to Kurdish people and for trying to talk peace and brotherhood, added that “this country is witnessing very dark forces trying all they can to prevent the Kurdish Question to be solved. These forces – said Zana – do not want peace; do not want this question to be resolved. Indeed they fear a solution”.
