Turkish police attack Kurdish protester indiscriminately

imagesCASO12UGNORTH KURDISTAN, — Kurdish people in North Kurdistan have stepped up their protestation against the exclusion of 12 candidates from running the election campaign.

Tens of thousands of people gathered in front of the BDP Mersin building at noon hours today launching a sit-in action for two hours.

The masses of the Kurds then marched to the Tas Bina chanting slogans “PKK is the people, people are here”, “Fascism will be buried in Kurdistan”, “Salute to Imralı”, referring to Imrali prison where the Kurdish national leader is held captive.

Speaking after the march where the mass closed the way to traffic and was blockaded by mobile force tanks, BDP Provincial Chair Cihan Yılmaz said; “YSK’s veto is illegal and cruel. We strongly condemn this decision and we are not going to retreat from streets until the veto is recalled”.

Turkish police also attacked protesters in Diyarbakir. Tanks, water cannons and tear gas were used to disperse a large crowd protesting both against the Election Board decision to exclude BDP supported candidates from contesting the elections on 12 June and the trial of Kurdish politicians.

According to Firat News Agency a 15-year-old protester named Remzi Cali was shot and wounded by the police. Police attacked indiscriminately young, old and women all could not escape!
