IRAN, — The Iranian officials executed 11 people who had alleged affiliation with the Cundullah organisation which claimed responsibility for the bloody assault against a Shiah Mosque last week.
According to the İrna news agency, Sistan-Belucistan town Minister of Justice İbrahim Hamidi stated that 11 Cundullah members who “clashed with state powers” and “participated in acts killing civilians” were executed by hanging this morning in Zahedan town. The 11 members got the death penalty with the allegation of “striving against Allah by fighting against the Consecrated Islam Republic regime”.
Sunni group Cundullah organized a number of attacks in the last 10 years one of which was the suicide attack on Şabahar Mosque on 15 December at the day of Muharram and killed 39 people.
The executions in Zahedan coincided with Cundullah Organization’s claiming responsibility for this attack. Iran regime is thought to have affected the executions as a reprisal to the assault. Political prisoners in Iran, where there exists no fair trial, could get the death penalty on several minute’s trials.
