NORTH KURDISTAN, — The People’s Defence Forces (HPG) declared in a statement on Thursday that they have challenged the Turkish military forces in Dersim and Betlis killing 5 militaries.
HPG had previously warned Turkish army to halt military operations in Kurdistan and permit for the engagement of political process. But the Turkish army has continuously engaged in military operation in Kurdistan and only in April they killed 23 Kurdish guerrillas who were in the position of non-active self-defence.
HPG warned of responsive attacks on the Turkish military positions if the operations were no to halt. As a result the HPG killed 5 Turkish militaries in responsive to these offensives.
The Kurdish national leader had warned form his solitary confinement that if the military operations continue and negotiations don’t develop into dialogue, the possibility of war would be inevitable after the June election.
HPG is the armed wing of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) founded in 1973 as the result of the occupation of Kurdistan by the regional colonialism.
