The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Behram Ghasemi, endorsed Turkey’s plans to build a wall on the border between the two countries.
The spokesperson said during a press conference that the wall would be built on the Turkish side and would add to border security and stability in the area.
“Border security is important for both Turkey and Iran, and the two countries should make the necessary efforts around this matter,” Ghasemi said, thus reiterating support for the wall expressed in earlier statements by the foreign ministry.
Turkey is planning on building a wall along the Turkish-Iranian border as part of its war against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
Ankara recently completed a 556 km wall on its southern border with the Kurdish-led autonomous administration, in Rojava and northern Syria.
