Islamic State threatens Iran in a video

Islamic State (IS) has threatened Iran in a new video calling for the Sunni population in the country to take up arms against the government for jihad.

In the 36-minute-long video, IS fighters speaking in Persian threaten Tehran with sabotage attacks. The three men in the video are each from a different ethnicity in Iran; Persian, Arab and Baloch. One of them says, “By retaking Iran we will reinstall the sovereignty of Sunni Islam in the country.”

In the video, which also has footage of Shia soldiers taken hostage being beheaded, threatens Sunnis working with Tehran calling them ‘infidels’.

While broadcasting the video, Iranian state TV said that the organisation was trying to boost the morale of its fighters after devastating defeats in Syria and Iraq by threatening “a big target like Iran”.
