Arash Sadeghi’s health condition after 72 days of hunger strike

Arash Sadeghi went on hunger strike for 72 days to protest the illegal imprisonment of his wife Golrokh Iraee. Due to the husband’s protest and continued hunger strike, Golrokh Iraee has finally been released from Evin prison.

According to the report of Human Rights Activists News Agency in Iran (HRANA), on 3rd of January 2017, Golrokh Iraee released and Arash Sadeghi broke his hunger strike after 72 days.

According to latest reports by HRANA, Arash Sadeghi is in a very bad health condition and he needs urgent treatment. On the morning of Wednesday, due to severe nausea, stomach pain and coughing up blood, Sadeghi was transferred to Evin prison’s health center. After giving antinausea drug and stomach painkiller Sadeghi returned to his prison cell. Sadeghi still not been taken to hospital while he needs immediate treatment.

According to the coroner’s report after carefully examining, there is a high risk of coma and even death due long time of hunger strike, but still Sadeghi has not been taken to hospital.

It is worth mentioning, Arash Sadeghi is imprisoned in Evin prison to serve his 19-year imprisonment sentence. He has gone on strike hunger since October 24 in protest against the arrest of his wife, Golrokh Iraee, to endure her six years imprisonment.
