Zanyar Muradi’s letter, a prisoner sentenced to execution in Raja’i Shahr’s prison.
Zanyar Muradi, 24 and sentenced to death wrote about his innocence in a letter: “I wish a day would come so that I could prove my innocence to everyone in a fair court”.
I stared at the pictures but my father was the only one I could recognize… I was unable to easily identify the rest in the picture; once I looked at picture’s backside it was written: “Your father, your mother, and your sister Dideh”.
The political prisoner mentioned about grief of living behind prison bars of unjust, and away from family. He wrote:
Recently, while I was in prison I received a letter by post from one of my relatives. There were few pictures inside the letter. I gazed at the pictures but my father was all I could recognize. I saw a woman with white hair and distressed face standing next to a girl; I couldn’t recognize them easily. I turned the picture and it was written: “Your father, mother and sister: Dideh”. Tears roll down my cheeks but I wasn’t sure if the tear is for missing a mother after six years of separation with a face unfamiliar to me or for the sister whom is grown up, awaiting her brother to be released from unjust prison bars.
Pitied myself for not recognizing my own mother; a mother who blessed me with years of labor without any expectations. I wish I could touch her hands once more and compensate for every teardrop she cried since we were separated.
I can’t tell which sorrow caused her hair turn white; our distance, my innocence, losing my youth or unjustly imprisoning me!?
But I am well aware it will be no loss than a sea if she cried a teardrop for every pain she carries inside.
I wish a day would come so that I could prove my innocence to everyone in a fair court, to meet and delight my family, to make them happy at least even though I could never return their lost youth.
But what happens to mothers of many others?!
Mothers who lost hope of getting their sons and daughters back. I salute every bereaved mother of my nation and wish for the day that crimes would end so that none of them like my mother “Amena” grief over their children’s imprisonment and execution.

Denied alleged charges by the prisoners as information gathered from lawyers, family members and relatives were completely ignored, and instead prisoners were forced to confess against themselves after months of tolerating cell imprisonment and severe physical torture.
In an interview with Iqbal Muradi, father of the political prisoner rejected every accusations and said: “My son didn’t assassinate Mariwan’s Friday prayer leader’s son and countless times he mentioned that he was forced to confess against himself under severe torture by interrogators”. About latest situation of Zanyar Muradi, Mr Iqbal said: “According to the case lawyer, in near future it is expected to have another trial and we are hopeful to have accusations dropped.
