Increase of Kurdish political prisoners’ numbers in Islamic republic of Iran

Prison

While heads of regime hold each other accountable for the nuclear program case, on Monday in an ambassador gathering outside Iran, president Hassan Rouhani called his oppositions ‘a bunch of cowards who are only capable of chanting’. This was said while economy of nation is in a critical condition just as social and political situation of Iran. People of Iran and Kurdistan are fed up with costly prices, poverty, unemployed graduates, failed agricultural and industrial sectors and most importantly waves of repression and arrestment of political and civil activists in Iran.

At this very moment Firat News Agency (ANF) has reported that 16 Kurdish civil activists in Urmiye and Mako were arrested by Iranian intelligence units and their fate is yet unknown.

Karim Zamani, Fereydun Ibrahimi, Fayeq Najafi, Farzad Najafi and Saber Farzaneh are from east of Urmiye and are arrested for 50 days. Since last 10 days the five Kurdish prisoners are transferred to Urmiye’s killers’ section and are kept in a critical situation.

Furthermore ‘Khaled Amuyi Milani’ spent 3 months in detention and since last 10 days he was transferred to Urmiye’s killers section.

From Mako, six Kurdish activists were arrested and transferred to prison with political charges. The names are: Reza Ayubi, Ismail Akhtari, Mustafa Sabzi, Nasir Badavi, Abdullah Badavi, and Golnaz Ahang Khosh.

The ANF reporter added: “Hasan Najafi, Mahmoud Jangjou, Jafar Mirzayi and Nosrat Mirzayi” are also four other prisoners from Urmiye whom were in custody for 3 months and now moved them to the murderer’s section of Urmiye prison.

From the other side, human rights activists reported that Bandar-Abass prison authority do not allow the Kurdish political prisoner Karim Musazadeh who suffers from stomach and gastrointestinal tract pain gets treatment even with his own personal expenses. In order to protest this decision of authorities, he is going on hunger strike. It must be mentioned that in Iran political offense is not defined.

Within these systematic waves of oppression of Iranian regime, Friday 8th August the security forces of regime shot fire on a 24 year old Kurdish citizen name Zero from Hilich of Mergewer of Urmiye near the Hilane village of Şemzînan of Northern Kurdistan. It is said Zero was in that area to find his livestock which were lost near the border. Kurdish citizens transferred Zero who were wounded from his leg to the hospital of Şemzînan and his health condition now is reported to be good.

Again on Friday 8th August, simultaneously with the increase of oppressions in Kurdistan and Iran, seven experts and special rapporteurs of United Nations Human Rights Council by publishing a statement criticized the arrestment waves of civic activists, especially Iranian journalists and demanded the unconditional release of those who are in prison just for using freedom of speech, organization and peaceful gathering.
