Early this month, Revolutionary Guards started a large scale operation against HRK (Eastern Kurdistan Forces) guerrillas which resulted in a clash to break out between HRK at one side and the Revolutionary Guards and mercenaries on the other side. In clashes more than 15 Revolutionary Guards and mercenaries including high ranked troopers died, and many more were injured. After the clash, the Iranian military forces bombarded the clash zone with heavy artillery and Katyusha that resulted in martyrdom of three HRK forces.
According to the Press and Information Center of HRK, Revolutionary Guards initiated a military operation in Shaho and Kosalan regions. Furthermore, military movements of mercenaries, counter-guerillas and Revolutionary Guards has expanded in Ciwanro (Jawanroud) regions.
On May 16, HRK responded to attacks by launching operations against a headquarter of Revolutionary Guards in Selmas region which resulted in 20 casualties from the Revolutionary Guard while guerrilla forces completed the operation with no human loss or injuries.
On May 19, the Headquarters of HRK (Eastern Kurdistan Forces) released the following statement:
“Military forces of Revolutionary Guards have initiated series of large scale military operations since beginning of May 2014 and increased their pressures on Kurdish society and people in Rojhelat (Eastern Kurdistan). Despite the ceasefire condition, the regime executed comrade Hebibulla Gulparipur, comrade Reza Mamedi, and assassinated comrade Reuf Sheikhi, and comrade Milad Piri in Sine (Sanandaj). The regime has also expanded growth in numbers of military bases in various regions of Rojhelat. Finally they initiated widespread military operations in Soma, Ciwanro, Kosalan, Meriwan and Hewraman regions which resulted in martyrdom of three HRK comrades: Chiya, Simko and Rojhat achieved martyrdom while bravely resisting in battle. All these events occurred while the Iranian regime was violating the conditions of ongoing ceasefire.
As a result, in response to Revolutionary Guards’ raids on May 3, which resulted in martyrdom of three comrades and casualty of 15 revolutionary Guards in Soma region, in a legitimate defensive framework and as an honor to commemorate our lost comrades, our guerrillas launched operations against a Revolutionary Guards’ headquarter in Selmas County. As a result over 20 Revolutionary Guards forces were killed and many more were injured. It is worth noting that our forces left the warzone intact and without any human loss once operation was successfully completed.”
The HRK’s statement ends with the following assertion:
“We declare that Islamic Republic of Iran must conduct according to ceasefire standards, otherwise our forces have legitimate right to respond to any offense and pressure against Kurdish nation, guerrillas, and political prisoners.”
