Meriwan residents in clash with Iranian Plain Clothes

Clashes with Iranian Forces

Pressure, prohibition and repression of the Iranian regime are continuing against the Kurds in Rojhelat (Eastern Kurdistan) resorting to various strategies.

According to Firat News Agency from Meriwan, a number of Plain Clothes have been attempting to collect satellite dishes in the village of Kure Musewi (Meriwan). The action of these troops, which was accompanied with violence and abuse, caused public discontent among villagers.

After the clashes between the villagers and the government forces, they collected the dishes with the use of force and violence.

By resorting to these measures, the Iranian regime wants to prevent Kurdish people from communicating with foreign media and having access to reliable information. Due to fears of increased political and civic awareness in Rojhelat, the Iranian government continues to collect satellites in Kurdish zones.

While in other parts of Kurdistan, liberation struggles takes a step towards democracy. The Iranian government feared that these revolutions would reach the Rojhelat as well, scared that they would not be able to control the wave of protests.
