ROJHELAT, – The recent allegations of interior minister of Iran regarding the new governor of Sine provoked complaints from Kurdish deputies.
In the ceremony for introducing the new governor of Sine, the interior minister of the country alleged ‘we were not able to find an appropriate Kurdish governor for Sine and this was the reason for appointing someone from a different region’. This remark by Rouhani’s minister resulted in objections by both Kurdish people and Kurdish deputies.
After the Rouhani’s pre-election promises, many Kurds and Baluchis voted for him. He received about 80% of his votes in these two regions. Yet, since the formation of the new government, Rouhani has not fulfilled any of his promises. Neither in Sistan and Baluchestan province nor in four Kurdish provinces, the governor is native.
The allegations of interior minister according to which they could not find a Kurdish governor with the speciality they required, has been seen by the Kurds as humiliating.
In the meeting of administrative council, Elewi, the representative of Kurdish cities of Sine (Sanandaj), Diwandere and Kamyaran said; ‘the minister says that there is no talented and expert person in Kurdistan to assume the position of the governor; this is not truth and there are many talented, experienced and experts in Kurdistan both for governor and other important positions. In the ceremony of introducing governor in Bushehr, the minister confirms that they have appointed a governor from natives of Bushehr. This discrimination between cities has worried Kurdish people’.
Alewi added that ‘the country’s interior minister is well aware that Kurdistan is the most politicised regions in Iran and Kurdish people are familiar with the political literature, therefore, they have intentionally appointed a non-native for the management of the city of Sine.
These all proves that Kurdistan is still seen from a security perspective as before, and the promises of the Rouhani government were propagandizing only with no practise at all.
