Iran’s Parliament legalized marriage of supervisor with adopted child

Iran Parliament

IRAN, TEHRAN ─ Iran’s Parliament has issued an act that would legalize “marriage of supervisor with adopted (child), although there was not already a law on this regard.

In 2012 parliament had approved the prohibition of supervisor marriage with adopted child but the Guardian Council objected to this matter, announcing that adopted child is not real or intimate that marriage would be permitable.

Due to the objection raised by the Guardian Council the matter was back in the parliament and the representatives voted for it saying that there is no obstacle to marriage of supervisor with adopted child.

The parliament act must be approved by the Guardian Council for implementation. It is notable that the Council has published a brief statement on their website that the bill of “Protection of orphan children and bad-supervisor” is inconsistent with the Law and Sharia law (religious act).

According to the jurists, someone who has not supervisor religious magistrate would be his guardian.

In accordance with Iran Civil Law published on 1928 those children who lost their parents or are unable to care for themselves are granted to State Welfare Organization. These children can be delivered to couples who are able to care for him even without relative.
