Speaking at a public meeting in the province of Tatvan in Bitlis on Sunday, Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) co-chair Gültan Kışanak called on the Turkish state to give a positive answer to the road map the Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan presented for a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question.
Kışanak criticized the recently increasing political and military operations against Kurds and called on the AKP government to give an end to the policy of arrests and killings to ensure peace in the country.
“We find the state’s talks with Mr. Öcalan important but we know that none of us will consider ourselves free unless Mr. Öcalan gains his freedom. In the current process on the way to peace, we will put emphasis on two major points, the national unity of the Kurdish people and the democratic unity of all peoples in Turkey. It is time to tell all peoples in Turkey about the importance of leading a democratic, free and together living” added Kışanak.
