ANF, Strasbourg — In a press conference on Tuesday, the President of the Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament, Hannes Swoboda, called on the European Union to support the process of talks with jailed Kurdish leader, Abdullah Öcalan.
“The EU should support the process of dialogue between Kurdish and Turkish representatives to ensure a solution to the Kurdistan question in Turkey”, remarked Swoboda and said it needed to be understood that the problem of the Kurdish people cannot be solved through military ways. Swoboda said his group support talks and dialogue for a just and lasting peace.
Referring to the “Dialogue for a peaceful solution of the Kurdish question in Turkey” debate which will take place at the European Parliament on 6 February, Swoboda said the debate has been organized in support of the ongoing talks with Kurdish leader Öcalan.
