YPG Forces Take Control of Political and Military Centers of Serêkaniyê

YPG (People’s Defense Units) have taken the control of military, security and political centers of city of Serêkaniyê from Jihadists who are supported by Turkey. Jihadists were encircled by YPG forces in this city.

One of the commanders of YPG (People’s Defense Units) in an interview with Firat News Agency said: on 27 January, severe clashes took place between YPG forces and Jihadists backed by Turkey. At the result, YPG fighters completely took the control of main political and military centers of Serêkaniyê in Western Kurdistan.

According to this commander, during Assad regime rule the regional management center, military and political centre of Serêkaniyê had powerful defence systems.

The Islamist rebels that suffered heavy losses on 27 January bombarded civilian areas with artillery. At least 2 young women killed and 6 others injured when their home was targeted by artillery fire from these groups.

After suffering heavy losses in their 13th day of assault to the city of Serêkaniyê, Islamist groups retreated to the village of Tel Xelef, from where they target civilian homes with artillery.
