Another kolber shot dead

URMIYE, East Kurdistan, — Direct shooting of the Iranian Border Guards led to the killing of another Kurdish kolber who was struggling on the borders to make the living, local sources said.

Killing of Kurdish kolbers who ferry goods on their backs across the pseudo-borders of Kurdistan has become a commonplace for the Iranian Revolution Guards as well the Border Guards.

The local sources reported the killing of 19 years old Kurdish youth named as Sami Merwan resident of Enbi village of Urmiye city by the direct shot of the Border Guards.

Widespread unemployment in Kurdistan caused by the state’s policies has driven thousands of Kurdish youth to the borders engaging in activities considered as “illegal” by the state which includes exchanges of goods in the black markets.

Dozens of Kurdish kolbers are killed annually and many more are wounded as a result of the direct shooting of Iranian military forces.

Despite high number of casualties of kolbers as well as their mules and horses, no media coverage of such a tragic situation has been provided by the Iranian press.
