STOCKHOLM, Sweden, — Over 300 Kurds residents of Scandinavian countries gathered in front of Swedish parliament fasting from yesterday in solidarity with the hunger strikers in Turkey’s prisons.
Despite freezing weather, Kurds in Scandinavian countries stayed on a hunger strike since yesterday outside of the Swedish parliament in solidarity with hunger strikers in Turkey.
Hundreds of PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) and PAJK (Kurdistan Free Women Party) prisoners launched a hunger strike demanding an end to isolation of Kurdish national leader and the use of mother tongue in defence trials as well as in public. Some of them have entered 50th days of fasting.
In solidarity with this historic fast, a hunger strike was launched outside of Swedish parliament. The hunger strikers had stayed there until today afternoon and after reading of a declaration and marching through the city, they ended their campaign.
The protesters demanded Swedish government to put pressure on Turkish government to meet demands made by the hunger strikers in Turkey’s prisons.
