MEHABAD, — The Supreme Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran has confirmed death sentences for two Kurdish political activists who had launched an appeal to their verdicts.
Mukrian News Agency has quoted the lawyer of two Kurdish political activists, as saying that their death sentences have been confirmed by the Supreme Council.
Eli and Hebib Efshari from Mehabad city had been sentenced to death on the charge of Moharebe, “enmity with God”, by Revolution Court in Mehabad, for their alleged affiliation with one of the Kurdish political groups.
Eli and Hebib Efshari were arrested in October 2010 by the Security Forces and are currently held in Urmiye Central Prison.
According to the latest information at least 30 Kurdish political activists are currently sentenced to death by the Iranian Revolution Courts awaiting their executions.
