Tortures of political activists in Sine prison

SINE, — Tortures of political and civil activists are commonplace in the Iranian prisons. A political prisoner was tortured for his alleged refusal to attend the morning sport, local sources said.

Nemet Ishaqi from Kamyaran city who is held in Sine (Sanandaj) prison was tortured and humiliated for his alleged refusal to attend the morning sport, Mukrian News affirmed.

Nemet Ishaqi was arrested three years ago and sentenced to nine years term for his alleged affiliation with one of the Kurdish political groups.

Political activists are often charged with Moharebe meaning “enmity with God” and sentenced to long term imprisonment. In some cases they are sentenced to death. Dozens of Kurdish political activists are on death row.
