MERIWAN, — A general strike was launched yesterday in Meriwan to protest against the sudden drop in national currency as well as the severe economic conditions.
To protest against the fiscal crisis that has plagued the country shops and restaurants were closed down in Meriwan city in East Kurdistan.
It should be noted that the strike in Meriwan was simultaneous to strikes launched in Iran’s capital and other major cities such as Mashhad and Tabriz.
The strikes are reported to be a response to “fallacious economical policies, high prices of basic commodities, as well as inefficient leadership of the country.”
