BAHDINAN, — In the 28th anniversary of 15 August Leap, the coordination of PAJK (Kurdistan’s Free Women Party) expressed in a statement its salutation for this historic step in which the Kurdish guerrillas in Northern Kurdistan launched their initial attack on the Turkish colonial army. “We salute the national day of revival to Leader Apo, our people as well as our comrades,” said the statement.
The statement outlines that while the Kurdish identity was at the edge of precipice in Northern Kurdistan and there was no discussion of Kurdish people following the military coup of 1982 the historical leap of 15 August was launched with the purpose of protecting the Kurds from genocide.
“By the launching of 15 August attack,” the statement remarks, “The Kurdish guerrillas responded to the racist and chauvinist strategies of Turkish state. The 15 August Leap was politically and ideologically successful. Had the ideological triumphant not been secured, the victory of 15 August Leap would not have been speculated”.
15 August Leap Secured the Kurds from Genocide
“The emergence of the PKK and the execution of 15 August move secured the Kurds from genocide,” the statement articulate and continued,” Following Agri and Dersim uprisings, Kurds were demolished according to them. Notwithstanding, the Kurds ravaged the cemetery on 15 August 1984, revived again and erected a new will-power. The road to freedom was opened once the first bullets were shot in Eruh and Şemzinan. That was not only a military attack, but a new beginning for a free life, a revival, and a renascence for the Kurds.”
PAJK also outlined that this year in the anniversary of the 15 August this fact present itself more explicitly and added; “Kurdish people who struggle for their national rights can secure their own place in the Middle East. The execution of 23 July move within the context of self-preservation strategy was advanced and regarded as the fourth stage of the revolutionary war of people. Şemzinan and Chele operations were carried out victoriously marking a historic stage in the history of the Kurdish people.”
Historic Role of Women in the Kurdish Resistance
Pointing to the historic role played by the Kurdish women PAJK remarked; “Besey and Zerife were the symbol of our struggle; the insistence of such symbols on the reality of 15 August was critical. Azime Demirtash, Xanim Yaverkaye, Besey Anush, Binewsh Agal, Gulnaz Keretash, Zeyneb Kinachi, Chichek Kichi, Rozerin Mardin, Arjin and thousands of comrades continued struggling until they reached martyrdom stage. We also enhance the struggle of our comrades and with the spirit of 15 August Leap we stand for our comrades to the point of final victory. As long as a single fascist and conservative remains in our country we continue our struggle unremittingly. With the slogan of ‘Freedom for Leader Apo, Democratic Self-rule for the Kurdish People’, we carry our campaign to its apex.”
