BAHDINAN, — The Press Office of People’s Defense Forces (HPG-BIM) released a statement in relation to the recent clashes between their forces and the Turkish army in Şemzinan district of Colemerg.
According to the HPG-BIM statement at least 30 Turkish soldiers were killed and many others wounded while a Sikorsky type helicopter was shot down and two others were damaged.
Four guerrillas also lost their lives as the result of intense bombardments of the operation areas by the Turkish army, the statement added.
Giving information about the guerrilla actions against the operation, HPG-BIM stated that clashes broke out following two separate guerrilla actions in the region on 23 July.
Warplanes, cobra helicopters, howitzers and mortal artilleries were used in the intense bombardment from both air and land, said the statement and noted that one Sikorsky type helicopter was shot down and two others were damaged in the Gever region of Colemerg.
