HPG released AKP politician Veysel Çelik

AMED, — Veysel Çelik the AKP’s Kulp district chair who was taken into custody by the guerrillas of HPG (People’s Defence Forces) amid a road control on 12 May, was released last night.
Celik was released after a process of negotiation that involved Human Rights Association (IHD) and other civil society organisations.  In a press conference held in IHD headquarter in Amed, the chair of IHD Mehmet Emin Aktar explained the circumstances of Çelik release.
According to ANF Çelik had stated that he is going to leave politics as well as the ruling AK party for which he had harsh words. “My detention was an answer to the scores of BDP executives arrested by the government”, he said and added that his family had turned to civil society association for help.
Veysel Celik also pointed to the extent of the Turkey’s military operation against the Kurdish guerrillas who “treated him well” while he was in their custody.
