BAGHDAD, — Iraqi Prime Minster Nuri Maliki demanded in Iraqi Parliament that all the Peshmerge Forces go under his administration as he is holding a position in National Security Minister and Defence Ministry.
This request comes after Kurdish demand for the Peshmerge budget from the central government in Baghdad.
While Maliki sought to purchase more F16 fighters, at the same time it bid to control the Kurdish Special Forces (Peshmerge).
Mesud Barzani the president of Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) had previously stated, the Iraqi government would use the F16 against the Kurdish people were they ever delivered.
Mr Barzani has also threatened to go for referendum for secession had the sectarian tension wan not quelled in the next four months.
It should be noted that in 2005, a referendum was held to decide about the future of Kurdistan. More than 95 percent of Kurds voted for independent.
