UN observers to monitor Syrian ceasefire

NEWSDESK, — United Nations Security Council is expected to vote on whether to send official observers to monitor fragile ceasefire between Syrian government and rebel forces.

A broker Kofi Annan the UN envoy has been working hard for the last few weeks to secure ceasefire and called for observers. Council’s 15 members met to draft resolution authorising observers in respond to Annan’s call.

Russia- which has opposed previous Security Council resolutions on the Syrian uprising said it hoped observers reach the country within days.

Syrian troops clashed with rebels near the border with Turkey yesterday morning despite internationally brokered ceasefire.

It is also reported that Kurds are leaving Syria and taking refuge in South Kurdistan.
