Kartal: Meetings between AKP and PKK to a dead end

remzi_kartalBRUSSELS, — The leader of Kurdistan People’s Congress (KONGRA-GEL), Dr. Remzi Kartal said in an interview with Roni Alasor of AK News, that the meetings between the members of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and its leader Abdullah Ocalan on the one hand and the government of Turkey have reached a dead end.

Remzi Kartal added that Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party rejected the proposals presented by Ocalan in May 2011, which were considered a last chance to find a solution to the Kurdish issue. Kartal added that many clashes between the two sides may be witnessed in the near future.

Asked what can the Turks, Kurds, Europe the United States and international powers do in this regard, Kartal replied that “The Kurds were the victims of interests between the countries in the First World War, and now policies similar to those of that era are exercised. The sufferings of the Kurds from genocides and military operations carried out by Turkey have been ignored and the result of this is, unfortunately, the continuation of humanitarian tragedies in Kurdistan”.
