URMIYE, — In the Iranian prisons, celebrating New Year is a crime. The Iranian authorities expose all their power in oppressing people through imprisonment, torturing and execution methods.
On Tuesday, 3rd April, five prisoners held in Urmiye prison were transferred to the torture ward in the city’s Intelligence Service.
Kurdish prisoners Said Cemal Mohamadi, Shirko Osmani, Ali Hussein Andi, Braim Hassan and Zahir Ali celebrated the New Year (Newroz) in prison, but were tortured and threatened to increase the period of their captivity for doing so.
Another political prisoner named as Qadir Mohammadzade has also been isolated in the Urmiye prison for unknown reasons.
