Ancient sites of Kurdistan at risk

KirmashanKIRMASHAN, — The government construction planning puts the ancient sites of Kurdish regions in East Kurdistan at the risk.

The government is planning to build a holly site for Saint Abraham in Taqustan of Kirmashan to overshadow the Kurdish historic sites.

Human right commission and the lawyers of the region have warned the state regarding the construction of Saint Abraham site in Taqutsan, “We have respects for all the religious beliefs, but the construction of Saint Abraham’s site would disparage the significance of Taqustan,” they said.

Taqustan is one of the oldest historic sites in the world that is registered in the list of world antiquities.
