Kurdistan Regional Government to abolish death penalty

Kurdish_Parliament_HewlerHEWLER, South Kurdistan, — The Human Rights Committee in Kurdistan Parliament declared that, they are trying to abolish death penalty and also working for general amnesty.

The Committee of South Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Befrin Hesen has told PUK media that “the first reading of general amnesty draft which is in the house for a year is now completed and handed over to Kurdistan Parliament”.

“We in Human Rights Committee of Kurdistan Regional Parliament, insisted on the abolition of the death penalty in the Kurdistan Regional Government, although, no execution has been carried out since 2008 until now, but the execution order still exists”, she said.
