Indefinite hunger strike launched in Strasburg

strasbourg-hungerstrikeSTRASBURG, — Fifteen Kurds launched an indefinite hunger strike today in Strasbourg demanding freedom for Kurdish national leader Abdulla Ocalan and his health and security conditions guaranteed.

The hunger strikes also call on the European Council and the European Union to take action against the pressures the Turkish state puts on the Kurdish people.

The group of protestors, naming themselves as Initiative for Freedom for Ocalan, will start their act with a press statement to be made in front of the European Council building.

The spokesman for the Initiative, journalist-writer Fuat Kav, remarked that the group consisted of Kurds from different parts of Europe and called on the Kurdish people in the region to support the act for Kurdish people’s leader Ocalan.

The act with the slogan “Freedom for Ocalan, status for Kurdish people” will also demand the exclusion of the PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) from the terror organization list of the European Union.

Journalist and writer Kav stated that all the initiatives and organizations that demand freedom for Ocalan could come together under a single roof in the coming process.
