AMED, Kurdish Capital, — Fifty Kurdish prisoners held in Amed D-Type prison will stage an indefinite hunger-strike to protest against the isolation of Abdullah Ocalan and the increasing attacks on the Kurdish people.
In a statement the prisoners announced they will start the hunger strike tomorrow Tuesday 14 February.
“The isolation on our Leader,” the statement says, “has reached an unprecedented point while the political institutions of Kurds are targeted with political operations and the resisting Kurdish people and guerrillas face slaughter. Besides, the efforts given for silencing opponent press and Roj TV reveal the dimensions of this updated conspiracy. The AKP believes that it will obtain the desired results through these slaughter methods.”
Noting that it is a duty to develop a total resistance in this process with a spirit of national unity, the statement said; “On this basis, as 600 PKK prisoners in Amed prison, against these attacks, we are starting a three-day hunger strike on 14 February while at the same time 50 comrades of us will start an indefinite and non-alternate hunger strike act.”
