NEWSDESK, — The 17-year old daughter of Aziz Tekin, Martin Representative of Azadiya Welat, the only daily Kurdish newspaper in Turkey, identified as S.T. has been jailed for four times in 2011 on the charges of “being a member of the illegal organization,” referring to Kurdistan Worker Party (PKK).
Although S.T is reported to suffer from serious kidney problem, she was able to spend only 20 days out of jail before she was sent to prison again for the last time.
Aziz Tekin himself and his son Vedat Tekin are also currently jailed in Mardin E Type Prison. Mother Suphiye Tekin says “We are given the message that we will only be allowed to live in prison whereas our only wish is to live in peace and justice and to see the end of the war. My husband and two children are in jail, will they jail us all? They cannot solve this [Kurdish] issue by jailing all family members.”
