PARIS, — The freedom of press for the Kurdish people is under serious threat. Even the universal right of free speech is no valid when it comes to the Kurdish case.
Following the trial of Roj-TV in Denmark, Eutelsat has announced yesterday to “suspend the presence of Roj-TV on its satellites in order to avoid incurring criminal liability as an accomplice to ‘terrorist’ activities”, ANF reports.
This is in a sharp contrast to Danish Court verdict of not closing the Kurdish TV channel, but imposing a fiscal penalty.
In its press release Eutelsat also stated that it “has consequently asked distributors unlinking Roj-TV to its satellites to suspend broadcasts of the channel”.
