IMRALI, Turkey, — It’s been 147 days that the Kurdish national leader has been denied of lawyer visit. The strict isolation of Ocalan has been coupled with the spate of arrests of Kurdish journalists, civil activists, politicians, lawyers and mayors.
Once again the reason given for refusing permit was the ludicrous excuse of problems with the boat and the bad weather.
Kurdish national leader has been held in a solitary confinement in the Imrali Island prison for the last 12 years. His lawyers used to visit him on a weekly basis. But they haven’t been able to visit him for the last 147 days.
On 22 November 36 lawyers, most of them defending the Ocalan were arrested in the context of the so called KCK (Kurdish Communities Union) operation.
