NEWSDESK, — The National Coordination Body for Democratic Change in Syria [NCB] reports that representatives from the National Coordination Body for Democratic Change and the Syrian National Council formed a Preparatory Committee to achieve an essential understanding between the two sides, in the fields of policy, program and organization, in readiness for the expected Syrian Congress that will hopefully be held under the auspices of the Arab League in the next week. Talks have been suspended for ten days but are expected to restart on Monday 5 December 2011.
The NCB reports that the Preparatory Committee has made important strides along the path of understanding between the two sides on a number of political issues related to trying to unify the voice of the opposition and its current and future direction. Understanding on several important issues still needs to be worked out as soon as possible, and to be completed in suitable time so that a public announcement can be made to the Syrian general public and opposition figures, and so that an enriched and modified joint statement can made to the Arab League in readiness for the expected Congress.
The Preparatory Committee’s activities have been disrupted for a long time at the request of the brothers in the Syrian National Council, because as they reported to the NCB, they have been busy with their meetings in Istanbul.
The National Coordination Body for Democratic Change emphasizes the need to act quickly, seriously and firmly without any further delay to enable the success of these efforts to unify the voice of the Syrian opposition in the interests of the Syrian people, to stop the bloodshed, and to open the way for the transitional change to a democratic parliamentary pluralist system as soon as possible.
The National Coordination Body for Democratic Change is calling upon all the loyal people and revolutionaries, intellectuals, and brothers, sisters and friends to support this serious work by all means available to them, to ensure the desired success of the Syrian Congress.
