65 people on trial for attending BDP politics classes

BDPIZMIR, — Special Authorized Izmir Prosecution Office has sued 76 people including 30 detainees who were taken into custody as part of operation targeting the BDP Izmir Political Academy on 22 September, ANF reports.

Detainees are charged with “membership of an illegal organization” and “spreading propaganda for an illegal organization”.

The 184-page accusation by Izmir Prosecution Office which demanded up to 20 years imprisonment for each detainee has been approved by Izmir 8th High Criminal Court.

The court presented audio surveillance records, training certificates, telephone interviews and publications of the members of Academy as criminal evidence on the accusation which also consisted of news regarding the BDP Political Academies published by ANF and Roj TV.

Arguing that lessons given at Izmir Politics Academy were the same as those given at PKK training camps, the prosecutor also sentenced 34 people who allegedly received training at the Academy in earlier terms.

The trial of 76 Kurdish politicians will be held at Izmir 8th High Criminal Court on 28 February 2012.
